There was a twinge of sadness and regret as I sent this pair out the door. AM98s played a pretty prominent part of my growing up experience. The girl all the guys had a crush on used to wear these on the daily (only a few people out there will know that reference). We all thought they were just the craziest shoes but could never find them because we grew up in the mountains and there were approximately zero sneaker stores within 30 miles (not that we could afford them anyway). I finally found a pair the summer before I went away to college @ucsc on a road trip with my road dawgs at a @footlocker outlet store in Gilroy, CA for $90 as I believe we were in San Jose for the #upinsmoketour. I beat that pair to the ground. For years, 98s were impossible to find until @nike retroed them in 2013/2014…at which point I went out and bought my 3 favorite pairs at retail after a tough day at work in SF. I semi-regretted at the time, but nostalgia can be a tough beast to conquer. I have so many memories of 98s and in this long ass post I didn’t even address half of them….
