3/3 I saw this pic floating around the other day. It’s supposedly the upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low inspired by Grateful Dead Bears. And I’ll be damned if this sh!t isn’t straight FIRE. Having gone to that last show – I saw a million different Grateful Dead logos but didn’t see even ONE shirt with a Grateful Dead Bear on it.
When I was a kid I earned a bit of allowance and had my mom drop me off at our local music shop – ‘Joby’s Music’. When I went inside, I searched for the rap album I was looking for and saw a black shirt that had the 4 Grateful Dead dancing bears embroidered across the chest. The same exact day I bought 2pac’s ‘Me Against The World’ I also bought a Grateful Dead dancing bears shirt. Mind you – I couldn’t pick a Grateful Dead song out of a lineup of two songs (and still probably couldn’t), but the branding was just so dope I had to purchase the shirt.
In my head, I know exactly what the bears look like – but this dunk is one hell of an homage. I hope they come in different colors, cuz I hate it when that neon green colored suede-like material gets dirty it can be pretty tough to clean.
Anyway, I’m happy to see that dunks are making a bit of a comeback. Although I love that @nike is always pushing the envelope and pushing things forward, I love to see that dunks and the colorway designers on the dunk team are still creating minimalist masterpieces.
Next up – y’all seen that Ben & Jerry’s dunk? Coming soon…
