4 beers in…we start talking about the stock price of Nike. This was on February 8th, and my buddy was a bit riled up because Nike took a short tumble and we spent a while speculating as to why. Google Finance told us Nike stock took a dip because of the coronavirus and we barely batted an eye.
Who knew it would get this bad. If you knew it was going to get this bad – you shoulda been short selling!
Looking at the chart for February 8th, it looks like it was a brief blip – down to $100/share, but if you look today it’s nearly 40% off of that amount…shoutout to @nikestories for the post today asking if now is a good time.
In 1997 or 1998, I selected Nike and Pepsi stock as part of an economics project so I’ve been following it for a while…looking at the chart – it was $7 back then. I followed the price of NKE not all that closely, but close enough. In 2009, when I worked on Wall Street and opened up my first brokerage account, I *almost* bought some at about $15/share. Instead I bought stock in the company I worked for (lol) and some other random crap. If I had *actually* bought it at that time – I’d be sitting on a chunk of change.
Anyway…with what’s going on right now…don’t take my word for it but this is going to continue to dump. Almost nothing is a good investment right now.
All that being said – what’s a good *buy* price for Nike for share? $50? $35? I ain’t buying sh*t! (and after Trumps speech earlier today I expect there is going to be a bit of a bounce)
