(3/?) Is eBay back?
The first item I bid on and won was a whole different story. They didn’t have this ‘Buy It Now’ thing on eBay until like the mid-2000’s, believe it or not. But this item I bid on – It wasn’t a rare item, but it was something that had eluded me for a few years. It was the original pressing of @snoopdogg ‘s #doggystyle. ⁣

I remember I had bookmarked the auction for a few days – back then I didn’t even ‘watch’ auctions, I just bookmarked them because I didn’t even understand what ‘watching’ was until someone explained it to me a couple of years later. ⁣

The Snoop Dogg album, for me, was the first album that just rocked my world. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before and – being that I was 13 at the time it came out – I want to say it shaped my perception of music for the rest of my life. That album – to me – is the most comprehensive glimpse into my music preference for years to come. I had the tape that I got in a trade from another kid I used to go to school with in the UK (it was part of a multi-item trade – I remember I gave up The Chronic and a Michael Jordan Champion Jersey and ended up with a couple of Premier League jerseys and the Snoop tape) but I never owned the CD. And CDs were a big deal in the late 90’s/early 00’s. ⁣

So…the item..I watched it…watched it…watched it…then placed my bid a few cents over the high bid and I won it for something like $8. $8 for a used Snoop Dogg CD! I was so stoked. But with no PayPal, I had to go to the post office, buy a money order, send it out, wait for it to clear, then the dude would mail it to me. The whole process took roughly 3 weeks, and when it came in and was delivered to my college mail room – I ripped open the package and was disappointed. The bottom was all scratched up and it didn’t even play the whole way through on my CD player. ⁣

Whatever…better luck next time. What was the first thing that you bid on that you won?⁣
