So I couldn’t even find pics of the other Etnies Cyprus’ I owned…this is the only one I could find. There are only a handful of pics online it’s almost like they didn’t even exist. I’m going to say this pair was my main ‘going out’ shoe. Yes, at 21, dudes in my graduating class at UCSC were wearing dirty white Asics runners to go out in, so I was kind of on the ‘cleaner’ side of things at the bar. This shoe was a simple black and white and silver so was understated enough to fly under the radar but also fly enough to get me some digits lol It went well with jeans, went well with shorts, went well with my gait.
Looking back, I want to say this is like the first time I ever fell in love with the shape of a shoe. I mean, lots of shoes looked cool and I loved all kinds of models, but the shape of this one just felt so…perfect…for my lifestyle. And I don’t know that I even recognized that it was the shape that got me until I bought that third pair and the shape was just…off. Runners are runners. Jordans are Jordans. And I love my runners and Jordans as much as anyone, but the Etnies Cyprus will always be one of my favorite shoes. I really wish they’d bring them back even for like a small run. I saw @dcshoes re-released some old models in collaboration with another brand – Yo let’s do a collabo @etniesskateboarding x @thesneakersavant x @nickengvall – holla at ya boy!
