Here’s my contribution to @fbccbayarea’s @sia_collective #siavulturecompetition . The story on these just cracks me up, so I had to continue with the theme and went with a colorway that compliments the story. If you know the story – feel free to share it. If you don’t, hit me up and I’ll do my best to explain it.
Not totally sure it’s exactly ‘positive energy’ but it’s all in good fun.
@jayzrdead helped me with the colorblocking on this one. Kind of an odd color combination if I do say so myself, but I think it works…I used to have a pair of Brown and Red Dunks about a hundred years ago and have been onto that color combo ever since. Do the colors work well together? What are your thoughts on the color blocking? Pretty sure the only person I know who would know anything about this shoe (other than me – @thesneakersavant ) would be the homie @nickengvall .
This is the original @etniesskateboarding #cyprus . If you google ‘Ernies Cyprus’ now, all you’ll see is their newer model that looks absolutely nothing like the original model and it’s a shame – cuz this shoe was one of my favorites.
I remember using these for…skateboarding, basketball, hiking, trailrunning, riverwalking and any other thing a 20 year old in California would be using them for.
I’m gonna say this shoe came out in 1999 and I owned at least 3 different colorways of it. And I want to say I bought 2 of those 3 pairs at Copelands sports. At the time – owning 3 colorways of any shoe was considered weird. My friends in college used to make fun of me for it. The first pair I bought – a Navy/Yellow pair – I wore them til the soles literally fell off. Like literally fell off. The second pair – some black and whites I’ll post later tomorrow – I wore almost daily for 2-3 years and destroyed them by putting them in a dryer (the soles melted clean off). The last pair I owned – a gray and navy pair – had a slightly bulkier shape and I just couldn’t rock ‘em. My pops cold rocked them for a good 2-3 years before I replaced them for him with some @carhartt x @nike Dunk DBs (which he still owns).
The colorway shown in this pic – I never owned it.
Being that I’m this grand sneaker influencer right now (I have the emails to prove it! I just have to send them $400/week to prove it!) – @etniesskateboarding please retro the original Cyprus!
