Another interesting story about cards that was sent to me a few years back by one of my friends @ramink . If you collect ANYTHING (including shoes or sneakers) and haven’t come across this article yet – I’d suggest you google it. It’s really interesting. Basically it tells the story of this dude who, as a kid, was really drawn to one particular baseball card – a 1964 Topps Curt Flood card and has basically spent the majority of his life buying every single copy of the card that he comes across.
As of 2014 (there is no update to the article), the collector – Mike Hally – owned roughly 4000 copies of the card. Clearly, if you search for it – you can find hundreds of copies of it…and they range in price from like $5 up to $200.
The guy who showed the article to me asked me if there were any shoes I would consider doing this with in order to artificially inflate the market – I responded with the Jordan 1 x Lance Mountain SBs Black/Red & Black/Blue pair from like 2014.
It’d be interesting – the price is roughly 2-3 times retail at this point. If I hoarded 4000+ pairs of that Jordan 1 x Lance Mountain SB – would that even move the needle on the price?
