I already posted the story of the Air Raids and how I learned all about Malcolm X because of them…my pops convinced me to read the Autobiography of Malcolm X before he’d buy me a Malcolm X hat…if you want a refresher take a look at my post from October 29, 2019.⁣⁣

Now this pic…this pic happened a bit later…shortly after my mom left my dad. She wanted me to get to know her new boyfriend a bit better, so we took a road trip down to Disneyland (from Tahoe) to meet up with him. This pic was taken at Toon Town – the Roger Rabbit inspired section of Disneyland that I was super excited to see as I thought the movie was brilliant. That being said – it was a stressful situation, being 11 years old and meeting the man my mom left my dad for – so I did what always made me feel better – I attempted to hide my insecurities through my outfit. I’ve been a bit of a label whore for as long as I could remember, so I had to make sure everything I was wearing would tell a story: I had on my Hornets hat (only Hornets player I could name: Kendall Gill), my No Fear shirt (I had lots of fear), my Casio watch (got from my grandpa), my Georgetown shorts (I couldn’t name a single Georgetown player), I want to say those are some 180 Air Max Quarter socks (I didn’t even know what that meant), and of course – my Air Raids (which I did actually know something about).⁣ Looks like I had 180 Air Maxes & Air Raids on my mind at one point too, Mr. @jerrylorenzo 😂 ⁣

Anyway, this is why, when I look around at youngsters dressed like jackasses – my initial response is understanding…⁣⁣
