(2/2) Samples or Fakes cont’d…
When I got home, I snapped a couple of pics and sent them over to my legit check partners and I got a response pretty quickly – ‘likely fake – they only released 4 colorways and this wasn’t one of them’.
I found an article from @sneakernews back in May of 2018 with more than 5 collab pairs that were set to be released, and this pair was definitely on the release page, but I still couldn’t find any other substantial info online.. Usually that’s a bad sign.
Lastly, I pulled out a real pair of React 87s I had been wearing over the past few weeks and compared them side by side…the stitching patterns made it painfully obvious that I was holding a fake pair of @undercover x @nike React 87’s –
1. The toe stripe – The pair I bought directly from Nike has much sharper cuts on the toe stripe.
2. The heel logo strip – Take a look at the size and stitching of each flap. The authentic pair has a longer and leaner strap.

3. The ankle collar was significantly different than the authentic pair
4. The stitch pattern on the heel cage was also significantly different than the authentic pair
Overall – I spend a great deal of time looking at details when I am authenticating and grading. Otherwise, I just like the way shoes look. I promptly returned them for a full refund. Exciting!
