Another shot of my NYC AF1s…the ones from my last post.
As the title states…this was the first box I ever made…with my own two hands. The idea was there and had been stewing first a while…I called up @tapplastics and asked them how much a sheet of acrylic would cost and I think it was around $75. With that single sheet I knew we had enough material to make only one box, so I called my dad and showed him the sketch.
One of the things we had to consider (when cutting it), was that we had to keep the edge of the blade cool – or we ran the risk of melting the cut.
My dad and I took a full 9 hours measuring, cutting, measuring, grinding, gluing, and at the end of the day I had a prototype.
It sounds silly…being proud of building a box…but it serves a legitimate purpose and had an actual function. I was once a spreadsheet master and I got paid pretty well to make pretty spreadsheets, but the feeling can’t compare.
