Wow. Yay. Again. Another ‘re-imagined’ Jordan V ‘Grapes’. How many times can JB ‘re-imagine’ the same shoe that people keep on buying? I suppose it’s not the same people buying over and over, but it’s probably more new generations of sneakerheads picking these up so I probably shouldn’t bitch about it…I suppose I’m just over the hill and they’re not really making these for me or my age demographic any longer. These are for the kids. … But what I find really funny about the Jordan V Grapes…I’m pretty sure the OG’s came out when I was in 5th or 6th grade and from what I remember, the original Jordan V Grapes sat on sales racks for – not joking – YEARS. I remember going to the @footlocker in Park Lane Mall in Reno, NV every few months and seeing them sit year after year. It might have been the area – Reno hasn’t always been known for it’s sneaker scene (although, shoutout to @globalgoodsshop puttin it down), but I just remember watching these things age along with me (on the racks). … The first time they re-released, I think it was like 2007 or so, I kind of assumed they were just going to sit again. I didn’t know the drop date or anything and really didn’t care. One night I was out drinking with some friends in New York and it was like 3am and we were super drunk and one of my friends said ‘yo J, let’s go see my little brother, he’s at Niketown in line for some Jordans right now’. …
We hopped the train and…man…we were hammered. We got off around 57th and Lex and walked over at like 4am…There were hundreds of kids running around just goofing off waiting in line for the Grape V’s. I was shocked that somebody out there actually gave a damn about them…they gave enough of a damn to wait in line all night. IMO it was more the experience for these kids. But to an older dude like me – never. You’ll *never* catch me in line…lol
…
Anyway, I posted these in order of my preference. I really couldn’t care less about another pair of Grape V’s. What about you?
