And could I forget about the *single* greatest *single* left shoe sale of all time? Yup, the Nike Air Mag (from Back to the Future II) that recently sold on the @shoezeum ebay account…

This shoe – crumbles and all – sold for a whopping $92,100. That’s almost *DOUBLE* my yearly salary as a high school teacher. That’s almost the price of a brand new 2019 Maserati. That’s half the price of the average home in Chicago, Illinois. That’s the price of an average home in Scranton, Pennsylvania (what’s up @shea.serrano). And you could buy not one but TWO homes for that price in Youngstown, Ohio (@youngstownkicks ). At least they included the crumbles. If the buyer decided on selling the crumbles, you think he could pull a 1999 Honda Civic with 185k miles on it for them?

Obviously, the significance of this shoe is not lost on me, I’m pretty sure I saw Back to the Future II in theaters when I was like 9 years old (I also remember seeing Batman in the same theater around the same time…and…Forest Gump)…but again, this is not something I would seek out to own. I’d be terrified of somehow destroying it or damaging it and who wants to be the asshole who destroyed the last great single shoe? I’ve got a couple of little kids running around my house, too, I could just picture one of them putting it on trying to ‘play daddy’ for a minute. No thanks. It’d be great to buy, store in some kind of hyperbaric cryptofreezer ziploc baggy thing for a couple of years and then part with it for half a milli, which is what I’m sure will happen soon enough.

These single shoes are like fine art – that dude who bought the Batman shoe could most assuredly sell it for at least double what he paid for it 3 years ago. These things rarely go down in price.

I love this pic of Brian Wilson wearing the Mags. One of the only semi-normal people to wear these shoes in a real life setting – he wore them in several games while pitching for the @sfgiants and people were losing their damn minds. It always reminds me of what Dave Ortiz (of Dave’s Quality Meats @123dortiz ) @dqmnyc once told me – ‘They’re just shoes, man.’ …

What would you do if you owned these?
