(8/9) $21,000 Jeter XI High authenticity check Cont’d…
…
We felt the comparison pics from the last post were not enough, so we started asking for more pics. Once again – Green is on the *known* authentic pair, Red is on the pair from my customer.
…
Eventually, we spotted the following: …
1. The production tag. Usually a dead giveaway on *older fakes, this tag looked legit…except…why in the hell did it say ‘Jordan 17 Retro Low’ – these are clearly Jordan 11 Retro Highs. And…wtf is ‘Cuddle’? To me, this was initially the smoking gun. BUT. When I met up with the winner of the authentic pair – he showed me emails back and forth with his contact at Jordan Brand about how this was the tag they put on ALL the Jeter XI Highs. Once again – this error supposedly exists on ALL authentic pairs. So…not really a smoking gun. BUT. What a member of my team pointed out, after studying each and every word…the fonts are slightly different. And the spacing is different. You can tell from the comparison pics, especially on the words ‘Promo’ and ‘Cuddle’ that the fonts are different. On the authentic pair – it’s a taller font with smaller spaces in between each letter. On the Stockx pair – it’s a shorter font with bigger spaces in between each letter.
2. The stitching in the footbed of the right shoe. On the authentic pair – the stitching holding the upper to the midsole is black. And on the StockX pair – the stitching holding the upper to the midsole is white. This, in and of itself, is kind of a big deal; however, when I contacted the customer to show him this difference, he responded with “the left shoe has black stitching, the right shoe has white stitching”. That – to me – is troublesome. I have NEVER come across a pair of shoes with a different color stitching in the footbed of the right and left shoe. EVER. …
Once again, these differences aren’t exactly huge or even all that significant to the structure of the shoe, but I feel it’s enough for us to say that we at The Sneaker Savant believe this pair to be fake.
…
What do you think? Do you think these are fake? Should StockX offer a refund? Or is this not enough (nor enough *good*) evidence to claim they are fake?
