(So…this is kind of a long story – skip to the bottom if you want to get right to the point). I went on a bit of a bender like 4 or 5 years ago…and I bought like 20 pairs of ‘Handmade in Germany’ @kangaroossneakers . I saw some #niketalk post and just lost it…I had to have these. The quality on the leather was pretty luxurious and the silhouettes were sleek European…right up my alley. So through some internet sleuthing, I met this dude who lived a short distance from the Kangaroos factory in Germany and he was willing to proxy a bunch of pairs for me. He bought a bunch, packed them up and shipped them out to me and like a week later I was sitting on twenty pairs of #roos. A bunch of different colors and a bunch of different sizes and a few different models. Somehow or another I ended up with a pair of @overkillshop Friends and Family ‘Blue Grapes’… numbered k/10 in a wooden box. If you know anything about this shoe, you know there are only 10 official pairs in existence…and a handful of other pairs made for friends and family of the Overkill shop (who kangaroos did the collaboration with). So maybe 20 pairs, tops. Probably 2 per size.
Here is what I’m getting at…if this were a pair of Nikes or Jordans and only 10-20 existed in the world – we’d be seeing astronomical prices. Like $10k and above. But being that this is a European brand and not all that popular amongst sneaker elitests, the highest offers I’ve received on this pair (quite possible the ONLY DS pair of size 44s in the world) have barely been above retail – why? What are your thoughts? (PS there are glue stains 😂) (PPS – when you see these on GOAT, I’m the dude who listed them for $1.1k)
