Because of the aforementioned SNL spoof (see last post) I’m always reminded of the impact Reebok Pumps had on our adolescent brains. We were so young and dumb and really had no idea what the Reebok Pumps were actually meant to do but we were absolutely enthralled with them. It was only later that I understood the pump was meant to secure the top of your foot. The marketing message was heavy handed and it was clear that you’d jump higher. The white and neon green pair was unique if not the coolest shoe at the time. Anyway…this is a shout-out to Dee Brown and those pumps – the first pair of shoes I ever beasted for and received for Christmas.
