(1/4) Swipe 👉 This was a crazy week. One hell of a Friday. On Wednesday of last week, I started preparing my students for an end of the year travel project in which I wanted them to map out their ideal trip, which included 3 components – sights, attractions, and food. As such, I started introducing them to Anthony Bourdain through ‘Parts Unknown’ and spent a great deal of time talking about how he explained culture through food (or the other way around). I showed ‘Parts Unknown’ all day Thursday and wanted to start the project yesterday. Yesterday morning, I woke up to news of his passing and it was a pretty crappy way to start the day. Talking with my kids about suicide. I also knew I had watch party tickets to the Warriors game tonight so I put on my Jason Richardson jersey, Royalty 4s and made my way to school. After testing, we spent the rest of the day day, again, watching ‘Parts Unknown’ and it was tough. After school, I had to start packing up my things for the summer and it was bittersweet – my first year as a teacher is coming to a close. As I made my way home, I saw an email that directly affects all that I’ve been trying to do with Shoemetrics and The Sneaker Savant…to be continued.
