In 2001, I visited my parents in Tucson, Arizona. I was wearing some bulky skate shoes at the time (probably Ernies Cyprus) and it was hot as hell. We took a trip into the local Finishline, and there I found the very first pair of the @adidas Climacool 1 in Black and White. The tooling really reminded me of the Air Max Plus (the shape of the sole) and I was really into them. I purchased and wore them out the store and was amazed that I could actually feel the wind blowing through the shoe…they definitely kept my feet ‘cool’. As such, I wore those shoes every summer for a good 10 years and took them on almost every tropical vacation I went on. Back in 2011, I took them on a three month backpacking trip throughout southeast Asia. I was in Indonesia, and this tuk tuk driver with no shoes kept looking at my Clima Cools…and it was nearing the end of the trip so I literally took them off my feet and handed them to him. He was ecstatic. Fast forward to 2016 – when I found out these were re-releasing in Europe, I emailed 4 or 5 different shops in Europe to make sure I could snag a pair before all the hypebeasts that saw Kanye West wearing them could beat me to it…I ended up with 4 pairs that I COMPLETELY overpaid for as they all ended up on sales racks eventually. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
